The Autopsy of Jane Doe Review

The Autopsy of Jane Doe | Repulsive Reviews | Horror Movies

Now this is one I have wanted to see for a while and I can thank Hulu and Showtime for this. I remember how bad I wanted to see The Autopsy of Jane Doe when they announced this film and just like my film review will, the promotional campaign for this film kept everything and anything about it under lock and key. I think that helped a lot with keeping the viewer guessing on what is going on. But before we dive deeper into this review, let’s talk about the plot. You know where I am going to for this — good old IMDB!

“While investigating the murder of a family, Sheriff Sheldon and his team are puzzled with the discovery of the body of a stranger buried in the basement that does not fit to the crime scene. He brings the corpse of the beautiful Jane Doe late night to the coroner Tommy Tilden and requests to have the cause of death until the next morning to have an answer to the press. Tommy’s son and assistant Austin Tilden is ready to go to the movie theater with his girlfriend Emma, but he decides to stay to help his father in the autopsy. “

Thanks, IMDB. For a time that usually likes to give away EVERYTHING about horror movies with just the trailers, The Autopsy of Jane Doe went the opposite direction and I feel that worked in its favor. The twists and turns in this film really kept throwing curveballs at you and the film is a breath of fresh air in an overly stagnant genre. The plot can’t take all the credit. The cast and director do a great job at creating an atmosphere that has you holding your breath the whole time, as you watch this film. It truly could even be called a masterpiece or classic in my opinion.

If you are looking to watch The Autopsy of Jane Doe for yourself, it is available on Blu-ray and DVD from IFC Midnight and currently on Hulu through the Showtime add-on or from Showtime themselves. I recommend buying the film though cause this is a MUST have for any horror fan.
