I Feel Like John F*ckin Wayne!

Maniac Cop 2 Review

My favorite sequels in any genre are the ones that continue right where the previous installment left off. That is the exact method used by William Lustig in his second film of the killer cop series, Maniac Cop 2.

In true slasher form, Matt Cordell returns from a watery grave to continue his killing spree in this 1990 sequel. This film had everything I loved from the first and was still able to bring more to the table. Bruce Campbell and Laurene Landon return to their previous roles as two survivors from the first film, while we are welcomed to some new faces, as well. The acting in this film was all done very well. Robert Davi does an outstanding job as the new head detective on the case and Robert D’Zar delivers another fantastic performance as the maniac cop.

This film is packed with more action than the first and while it is not the most authentic piece of film history, all the explosions and effects are rather nice to look at. Maniac Cop 2 really feels like a much bigger film than the first. The aforementioned action is partnered with some great kill scenes, awesome bloody effects, and a gruesome make-up job on our killer friend.

If you are like me and enjoyed the first installment in William Lustig’s Maniac Cop series, than you should definitely check out this sequel. I give Maniac Cop 2 4 baton blades out of 5.

The 2nd Maniac Cop indeed is much better then the 1st. And the first wasn’t bad either.
