Let’s Give ‘Em Somethin’ to Eat

Feast Review

John Gulager’s Feast is an unforgettable no holds barred “splatstick” horror film. This is one of those movies that hits the ground running and never slows down or bothers to look back.

The cast is top notch with everyone from Clu Gulager and Henry Rollins to Treach of Naughty by Nature fame. Feast has a ballsy approach to the “trapped and fighting monsters” subgenre. With colorful characters, no matter how cookie cutter they seem, they all have a little bit of fun with the roles.

Constantly changing the rules of who can and cannot die is a big part of what makes this film so fun. Given the subject matter, Feast is still completely original and makes no excuses for the fun it offers. Gore fans will be impressed with the amount of bloodletting and use of amazing practical effects. The list of effects artists involved in this movie is impressive and the creatures really shine as a result.

I don’t have many, if any, negative things to say about this film. I do wish, however, that it was a stand alone film. I don’t necessarily have to watch the sequels, though, so that isn’t really a problem at all. Do yourself a favor and check this one out.

This film gets the Rottin’ Roger Demarco seal of approval with 4 maggots out of 5.
