The Devil Has Many Faces
Rosemary's Baby Review
In one of Roger’s recent reviews, he mentioned seeing remakes of films before actually seeing the originals which they are based off of. The same thing happens to me all the time and one film that I just can’t seem to sit down and watch is the 1968 classic, Rosemary’s Baby. The difference is, however, there hasn’t been a straight-up film re-adaptation of the film, but an NBC mini-series instead.
Synopsis
Modern 4 hour mini-series adaptation of the classic [...]
Apartments Don’t Kill People
Apartment 1303 Review
Michael Taverna’s Apartment 1303 looked promising, when I saw the trailer way back when. The movie itself, however, is really… really terrible. It seems to take elements from Japanese cinema (Ju-on, Dark Water, The Eye, Ringu, and Pulse), all of which have terrible American remakes.
Apartment 1303 feels like a remake of something that might have been good and to my knowledge is not. The acting is God awful with the exception of Rebecca [...]
Let Them Fight
Godzilla Team Review
I know there are plenty of you guys out there that absolutely loathe reboots. Especially for films that have already received a reboot once before. I, on the other hand, welcome them and for the most part, keep an open mind about them until I’ve actually seen the finished product. Some turn out awful, some are just okay, and some are outstanding. Gareth Edwards’ foray into the most famous kaiju’s territory has proven to be a breath of fresh air [...]
What Are You Doing in my House, Pilgrim?
Mother's Day Review
Director Darren Lynn Bousman’s film Mother’s Day is an unsettling home invasion film with so much tension and dread that, at times, it becomes truly tough to sit through. This is a sub-genre that I’m overly fond of for a few reasons in particular. The character development always seems to be a priority in these settings, as well as the tension of the cat and mouse game. Mind games, torture, and overall cruelty to the seemingly innocent cast can really [...]
The Sky, it Fell From the Sky!
The Blob Review
In 1995, the remake of the classic The Blob was already 7 years old and forgotten by a lot of people… except me. I was turning 11 and I had seen the 1988 version one very late Saturday night on Encore. I was enthralled with this movie, as a child. In fact, it was the only thing I wanted for my birthday. We hunted and hunted and eventually found it at a mom and pop rental shop. The used VHS [...]

Carrie Review
Now, I know I’m not alone when I say that I despised the 2013 version of Carrie. Despite how much I hate it and want to rant about it, I’m going to leave it alone. I want to sing a little bit of praise for the 2002 made-for-TV version of Carrie. I feel like David Carson’s vision/version of the novel and already fantastic original film is a fantastic adaptation, often passed over by casual fans or mistaken for [...]
