I Wish it Was a Crazy Guy

Don't Blink Review

Don't Blink

I love seeing movies that make me feel like I’m watching an episode of The Twilight Zone. Recently, a few movies that I have had the privilege of watching have given me that Rod Serling vibe. One of which was Travis Oates’ Don’t Blink. This movie is all sorts of awesome!

I was sucked right in from the beginning, every character is likeable and perfectly portrayed. From Brian Austin Green’s rational approach to Zach Ward’s edgy performance (which is the stand out of the film), everyone brings their A game. Oates does everything right when it comes to building tension. The humor is slight and never crosses the line of full-blown ridiculous. I feel as is the characters all react in a reasonable manner with the exception of one scene in particular, which involves some completely random sex… but hey, sex sells and who am I to complain about a sex scene in a horror movie? I gotta tell you, that is the closest thing to a complaint that I have about this wonderfully executed film.

With Zach Ward as the producer, I feel like he was involved in this film from the early stages, which really let him hand craft his character and show his acting chops. Don’t Blink is an exercise in the “less is more” style of filmmaking. Everything is beautifully photographed and the cinematography lends to the tension and terror.

This is a movie that you should watch more than once just to see what you missed the first time because trust me, you will miss some neat little things.

I have to give this one 4.5 empty gas tanks out of 5.
