I Spill Your Guts Review

I’ve said it once before when I reviewed Cool As Hell, but in case you forgot, I’ll say it again… James Balsamo is pretty awesome. His film I Spill Your Guts is nasty, vulgar, and filled with nudity and over the top violence. So what’s not to love? While this film isn’t for everyone, it does at least have something for everyone.

Those who will most appreciate and respect I Spill Your Guts are Troma fans. This film screams Troma and how Balsamo hasn’t been making films for them eludes me. This film has some creative death scenes and a pretty rad look for a killer. It doesn’t hurt that James plays the role either, since he is rather large and is very imposing on film.

I Spill Your Guts is a lot of fun, and it seemed like everyone involved had a blast making it. It’s only downfall is that it’s such a busy film; while not being overly complex in plot, it still manages to be a bit overwhelming at times. The soundtrack constantly switches between very loud metal music and an almost Dust Brothers Fight Club-esque synth, which was really my only complaint. However, this is a movie for the people by the people and it’s apparent James supports his local music scene and wants them heard as much as he wants to be seen.

If you are in the mood for some fun indie horror, be sure to check this one out. I give this film 2.5 medals of honor out of 5.
