The Necro Files Review

The Necro Files

Matt Jaissle’s The Necro Files boasts some pretty impressive credentials on the cover of the DVD like “Horror Film of the Year 1998” – Miami Film Festival, “A Gorehounds Dream” – Scream Magazine, and “Really Sick and Twisted” – Fangoria. Naturally, when I popped it in, I was pretty amped up for it.

I’m no stranger to direct-to-video horror, so the quality was not an issue for me and the gore is suprisingly pretty well done. This film is over the top in the ways Dead Alive or Bad Taste are, but this just doesn’t have the same charm.

The acting in The Necro Files is hilarious and I’m not sure whether to say that this film is genius or a complete waste of time. That’s not as bad as it sounds, I promise. I think Matt Jaissle knew what kind of film he wanted to make and did it. The freedom of indie cinema is a great thing and allows people like Jaissle to go for broke “video nasty” style. The end result is a disgusting film that is certainly not for everybody, but those who dig it, will REALLY dig it.

If you get a kick out of films like Redneck Zombies, find this film right now! If your more of an average horror fan, you might want to steer clear of this one or better yet, check it out anyway because it’s pretty hilarious.

I respect what this film is. However I don’t really care for it, but just because I didn’t, doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with it. I give this film 1 obvious baby doll out of 5.
