I Wish I Could Be That Scarf

Brutal Review

Brutal | Repulsive Reviews | Horror Movies

Watching as many movies as I do these days, it becomes rather difficult to get excited too often. There are the occasional rumblings, however. The one-off posts on social media, the positive chatter. Sometimes it’s for blockbuster nationwide releases and sometimes those rumblings are for underground releases, perhaps on their way to some kind of cult status. I feel like that very well could happen with Takashi Hirose’s Brutal.

The Plot

Man murders women. Woman murders men. What happens [...]

Shaking Their Junk in My Face

House of Forbidden Secrets Review

House of Forbidden Secrets | Repulsive Reviews | Horror Movies

If you’ve been reading my most recent reviews, you’ll have noticed that I’ve been on a little Unearthed Films kick. In continuing with that recent trend, I figured I’d check out another one of the most recent additions to their ever-growing filmography, Todd Sheets’ House of Forbidden Secrets.

It’s Jacob’s first night as the security guard for ShadowView Manor. After meeting with the rest of the night residents of the building, Jacob reluctantly agrees to be a participant in [...]

The Unnamable Review

The Unnamable | Repulsive Reviews | Horror Movies

With my recent ventures into the more extreme side of horror cinema, I have been diving deeper into the Unearthed Films catalog. With that, I was able to discover another of their more recent releases that piqued my interest.  This time around, it wasn’t another indie film from an up-and-coming young director who was assaulting us with tons of gore. Instead it was a film that was only available on VHS until now, Jean-Paul Ouellette’s 1998 The Unnamable.

The Song of Solomon Review

The Song of Solomon | Repulsive Reviews | Horror Movies

After being part of the horror community for so many years, you start to hear rumblings of the next film that you “just have to see.”  These films generally push the envelope, taking things like gore and gratuitous nudity to the next level.  Years ago, they were traded on VHS tapes as a type of underground barter system among diehard horror enthusiasts.  In 2018, however, films like this are more readily available, while still causing tons of controversy.  One series [...]

Closest I’ll Ever Get to Heaven

Black Metal Veins Review

Black Metal Veins | Repulsive Reviews | Horror Movies

So… this was a very hard one for me to watch… it’s a very hard one for anyone to watch because it’s 100% real. Back in 2012, Lucifer Valentine directed Black Metal Veins, a documentary that was distributed by Unearthed films and it is one hell of a watch.

“BLACK METAL VEINS unflinchingly documents the dark realities of despair and morbid self-annihilation surrounding the lives of five heroin and crack cocaine addicts, set against a soundtrack of black metal [...]

Lilith's Hell Review

Lilith's Hell | Repulsive Reviews | Horror Movies

As someone who runs a website dedicated to reviewing films, I have the privilege of receiving emails from studios and distribution companies about upcoming releases. As you may have noticed, the time I spend watching and reviewing movies has changed over the years, going from publishing multiple reviews in a day, at one point to, now, only once a week. Because of this, I rarely even look at the emails that come flooding into my inbox.  I simply just do [...]
