The Taking of Deborah Logan Review

The Taking of Deborah Logan

I believe it is a pretty safe bet that found footage films aren’t going to stop being produced any time soon. This may not necessarily be a negative thing, however. Although it has been done to death, especially in the last few years, filmmakers are still finding ways to utilize the technique to their advantage and present original and thoughtful ideas to horror fans everywhere. Adam Robitel has done just that with his newest project, The Taking of Deborah Logan [...]

The Inside Review

The Inside

When done right, found footage films can be extremely effective in scaring the daylights out of viewers. The Blair Witch Project seemed to do a pretty good job of this years ago, and it seems filmmakers have been trying to live up to the standards of that film ever since. One film that surely does a great job of scoring high on the ‘creepy meter’ is The Inside, directed by Eoin Macken.

The Devil Incarnate Review

The Devil Incarnate

I’m not sure what has brought on the recent resurgence in what I’ve been calling “baby horror.” Perhaps it was the release of Devil’s Due in theaters earlier this year. Since that January release, there have been a number of films dealing with satanic cults and the demon seed (see Delivery: The Beast Within) and now there is one more to add to the list — L. Gustavo Cooper’s The Devil Incarnate.

Newlyweds Holly and Trevor are on [...]

Delivery: The Beast Within Review

Delivery: The Beast Within

Recently I posted my review of the made-for-TV miniseries remake of Rosemary’s Baby. Now I’m back, reviewing a horror film that offers a little bit of a different take on the baby horror genre. Brian Netto’s Delivery: The Beast Within provides just enough creativity to allow it to break free from the pack and prevent it from being “just another found footage film.”

Synopsis:
Delivery tells the story of Kyle and Rachel Massy, a young couple who agree to [...]

Willow Creek Review

Willow Creek

I know this is another one that Roger did recently, but I just had to throw my hat in the ring for this one. I want to start off by saying how much I love that the subject of bigfoot in horror movies is almost becoming its own sub-genre. I love the subject matter and I think that it being paired with the found footage craze is like pairing peanut butter and jelly… it just makes sense! My recent review [...]

Closed Circuit Extreme Review

Closed Circuit Extreme

As you all may very well know by now, I’ve always been a big supporter of the found footage sub-genre. While I certainly don’t seek them out as much as I used to, I still give the ones I come across a fair chance. Giorgio Amato’s Closed Circuit Extreme is one that slipped right by me, but with its lack of very much excitement, it may have been for good reason.

Synopsis:
A young couple break into the house of [...]
