But It’s Already so Cold

The Dead Ones Review

The Dead Ones poster

We are about a third of the way into October and I remain successful on my quest to join the rest of the October marathoners in the Halloween Hall of Fame. Instead of continuing to scour Netflix or Amazon Prime for horror flicks, I decided it’d be best to grab the next title from my mountainous ‘to watch’ pile. The lucky film chosen was Jeremy Kasten’s The Dead Ones.

The Plot

A group of teens are sentenced to detention [...]

Broil Review

Broil poster

I’m really shocked that I’ve been able to keep the horror-movie-a-day streak going this year, guys! I know, I know. It’s only eight days into the month and I can screw it up at any time. I haven’t so far and that is cause for celebration. Well, if not celebration, at least another review? Read on as I discuss my thoughts on Edward Drake’s Broil.

The Plot

After a couple of suspensions from school, 17-year-old Chance (Avery Konrad, Unspeakable [...]

The Tax Collector Review

My last review opened with a statement about my yearly losing battle of conducting all-month-long horror marathons. This year, although it’s only been four days, I can say that I’m doing well. While I’m sure I will be watching a genuine horror film tonight at some point, I wanted to take a break and discuss a different genre film — David Ayer’s The Tax Collector.

The Plot

Street enforcers David (Bobby Soto, The Quarry, A Better Life) [...]

Split Second Review

I’ve never been able to commit to any type of all month long horror marathon for the month of October. I watch quite a bit of horror movies to begin with, but even during a pandemic, my days are too full to watch one film per day. I was able to squeeze one in today, however, and so, I’ve decided to document my small success here for you all. Read on as I share my thoughts on Tony Maylam’s Split [...]

Brutal Massacre: A Comedy Review

Brutal Massacre: A Comedy poster

Growing up, I hated horror comedies. I couldn’t understand why anyone would try to mix humor and dread together into this strange amalgamation of emotions. As the years progressed, I ended up being introduced to a whole slew of films from this sub-genre that I actually quite enjoyed and my hatred slowly deteriorated. If done right, comedic horror films can be some of the best ones around. Read on as I discuss whether or not I still feel that way [...]

See Ya, Champ

Mikey Review

Mikey poster

Having friends who love horror films just as much as you is great. You can discuss the stuff you love and hate with someone likeminded and even if your opinions differ, it’s usually a pretty good time. I will say that I don’t blatantly ignore my friends’ recommendations, but I do infact find it difficult to squeeze them in amongst the hundreds (yes, hundreds) of other flicks I have on my to-watch list. As somewhat of a new record for [...]
