So by turning on VRV, I decided to watch one of the movies on my viewing list while I gamed. The choice of the day — 2016’s Better Watch Out. The film claims to be a play on the old home invasion films, but it has one huge twist during half of the film that I can not say without giving it away. So it is a bit of a true challenge to review this film without giving away any spoilers. Let’s turn to IMDB to for the synopsis.
When you think the suburbs, you think safety, but this holiday night the suburbs are anything but safe. Ashley (Olivia DeJonge) thought this babysitting job was going to be an easy night, but the night takes a turn when dangerous intruders break in and terrorize her and the twelve-year-old boy, Luke (Levi Miller), she’s caring for. Ashley defends her charge to the best of her ability only to discover this is no normal home invasion.
Thanks, IMDB. Anyways, this movie is VERY enjoyable. It’s more of a holiday horror comedy, more than an actual horror film. The acting is very well done in the film and everyone brings a little bit of comedy to the film. It honestly is just a very enjoyable film that could make you laugh and even cringe a bit. I will definitely tell you it is worth a watch, if you can get your hands on it.
Better Watch Out is now available on Blu-Ray and DVD from Well Go USA Entertainment. You can get it from your local video store or Redbox. If you prefer not to travel in this winter weather, the only place you can stream Better Watch Out is through Shudder and VRV, which now includes Shudder in its combo pack!
