Rigor Mortis Review

Rigor Mortis

Fresh off of watching the greatly entertaining vampire flick, Afflicted, comes another vampire film review. This time around, it is Juno Mak’s martial arts-infused ghost story, Rigor Mortis.

A lonely and depressed man has moved into an apartment building where the supernatural roam the halls. Ghosts, vampire hunters, and the undead are all tenants in the building and this suicidal man is thrown right in the middle of it all.

I have seen a few Asian horror films [...]

God Makes a Journey For All of Us

The Human Race Review

The Human Race

Paul Hough’s The Human Race is an American answer to Battle Royale with more balls, character development, and blood than the over hyped Hunger Games films. While similar to BR, this film manages to be its own completely unique entity.

Starting off with 80 contestants and a set of rules — 1. If You are lapped twice, you die. 2. If you step off the path, you die. 3. If you touch the grass, you die. 4. Race or [...]

The Machine  Review

The Machine

Roger and I have both grown very fond of the independent films put out by XLrator Media, under their horror label, XLrator Macabre. Until recently, I had no idea that they also have another label entitled XLrator Turbo. While Caradog W. In a futuristic world, Vincent McCarthy (Toby Stephens) is [...]

Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons Review

Journey to the West

Magnet Releasing releases some of the most diverse genre films around. From amazing titles like Bad Milo! and Grand Piano, I am never disappointed. It is because of their great catalog, that I get excited to watch all of the trailers they include with their DVD and blu-ray releases. If I had skipped over these trailers, like most people would, I would have never found out about the fantastic action adventure fantasy movie directed by Stephen Chow, Journey to [...]

A Living Corpse Without a Soul

I, Frankenstein Review

I, Frankenstein

I remember seeing a TV spot for the first Underworld film years ago and thinking how stupid is was to have vampires and werewolves battling each other with guns and other modern weaponry. Needless to say, I didn’t run out and see it and actually, quite a few years passed before I finally sat down and watched the film for the first time. Ever since I finally decided to do so, I fell in love with the entire franchise. I [...]

The Legend of Hercules Review

Aside from the horror genre and films based on comic book characters, my favorite subject matter is mythology. More specifically, Greek mythology and or history. Movies like Troy, Clash and Wrath of the Titans, hell, even the Disney version of Hercules are all some of my favorites. This is why I was extremely excited to finally check out Renny Harlin’s quest into the mythos realm, The Legend of Hercules.

Tyrannical King Amphitryon will stop at nothing to [...]
