I remember being at a local video store way back in 2005 and coming across a film that immediately peaked my interest. I was completely unaware of just what I was getting myself into. However, the film Children of the Living Dead took me hook, line, and sinker with two words on the cover — “Tom Savini.” I said, “Yep, I’m renting this,” drove home, and eagerly put it in my DVD player.

Everyone has probably figured out by now that I’m a big fan of the slasher sub-genre. Something about them is just fun, the constant “red herrings,” over-the-top violence, humorous dialog, and plenty of nubile women showing off their ummmm… qualifications for the title of “scream queen.” Directors Chris W. Freeman and Justin Jones understand what makes these films so much fun and their film Sorority Party Massacre is campy fun from beginning to end.

The Necro Files

Matt Jaissle’s The Necro Files boasts some pretty impressive credentials on the cover of the DVD like “Horror Film of the Year 1998” – Miami Film Festival, “A Gorehounds Dream” – Scream Magazine, and “Really Sick and Twisted” – Fangoria. Naturally, when I popped it in, I was pretty amped up for it.
